Such a beautiful dive into the heart of astrology and what it can highlight for us. I didn’t pay much attention to it until sobriety. I agree, it’s another useful recovery tool. It helps guide my energy (or know when to conserve it).

My chart revealed I have double 🔥 fire -Aries energy. Sun and rising is Aries. My moon is Gemini. I have noticed when the moon comes to air signs I feel more at home/settled. And when in Sagittarius, whoa. Big energy swirl!

Thanks for this rich essay, Kaitlyn! You offer so much insight!

I bet you're so fun to be around, Allison!!! I love the fire/air combo.

It's cool to know you feel more at home when the moon is in air signs—I feel this way, too, as I have my moon in Libra (another air sign).

Thank you for reading, Allison! And for sharing some of your chart and observations. It's fun to explore together.

Astrology has been an important part of my life for years, even before I got sober. While the concept of using it to support my sobriety is a novel idea I can easily see how it could. Just never approached it that way so far.

Gives an added dimension to what’s already a very practical and useful tool.

One thing that resonates with me is the fact that since I got sober I feel like I am reborn, almost like I imagine a walk-in might feel. I’ve had a “natal chart” done for my sobriety date and it’s astonishing how that chart relates so accurately with what I’ve come to understand as my soul’s growth. It doesn’t seem to relate as closely to my mundane life as it does to my spiritual journey. Fascinating stuff!

It's such a useful tool for so many things.

I'm curious to hear more about your first introduction with astrology on your journey, Nancy—have you written about it, or would you be willing to share more? I'd love to know how it came into your life.

I love that you looked into the natal chart of your sobriety date. I really resonate with mine through that lens, too. It's almost as if my soul picked up the qualities of the cosmos on that day! So fascinating!! Thank you for sharing.

It's kind of hard to remember my first introduction to astrology since I was drinking at the time; memories from anything during those years are more than a little foggy. I do recall the first astrologer saying that I should not follow other people's paths too closely because I bring my own teachings and it's important that I share them. I would have been in my 20's then and I do remember not believing her because my self esteem was so bad I couldn't believe anything positive anyone said about me then.

The only other memory I have from those years was taking at Astrocartography chart to see where I should live. At the time, I was living in Southern California, and I remember that the two best places indicated were the Hudson River valley area of New York, and Eugene Oregon. It took me several decades (and lots of unhappy jobs/relationships before I finally did make it to the Hudson River valley, where I lived in relative comfort and ease for two decades. I'm finally settled in Eugene with a woman I've looked for all my life, and wishing I'd come here when the chart first said I should -- because it's the ideal place for me. I love everything about it and sad that I didn't/couldn't pay proper attention then. My partner only came here recently, too, though, so maybe everything really does work in Divine timing. I tend not to spend too much time ruminating over regrets; life is too short for that and I don't want to miss a single glorious thing.

Not sure if that answers your question or not but it's what I can share.

I can relate to not believing anything positive during similar times, Nancy. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Astrocartography is one of those things that truly fascinates me. It's nice to hear your experience after making it to the Hudson River valley area all those years later. Part of me thinks that if I were to move to certain areas too quickly, or before the "right" time (whatever that might mean), I wouldn't truly be able to appreciate it or find what I was looking for. I believe timing is everything!

I'm glad to hear you've been loving it there and have found your partner to share the beauty with, too.

Like you said, "life is too short for that and I don't want to miss a single glorious thing." I couldn't have said it better myself!!

I appreciate you sharing ❤️
