As 2024 draws to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for the beautiful, diverse community that’s grown around Sober App. Thank you for your courage, honesty, and steadfast support for one another—every “next right step” of the way.
We want to take a moment to celebrate what makes this space special—and to remind you of the January challenge and support available through Sober App x BetterHelp.
Looking Back
Since launching this newsletter as a companion to Sober App in February, we’ve featured incredible writers from diverse backgrounds and paths of recovery. Whether you’re sober curious, brand new to sobriety, have been sober for years, or are somewhere in between, we encourage you to explore our website for inspiration, encouragement, practical tips, and community.
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll find:
My Sobriety Story: In this Q&A series, sober folks share their journeys, including their decision to get sober, the surprises they encountered, their biggest challenges and rewards, and the advice they’d offer to those newly sober or considering sobriety.
Personal Essays: Dive into essays on a variety of topics related to sobriety, such as parenting while sober, creativity in recovery, bouncing back after relapse, spiritual awakenings, the intersection of alcohol addiction with food-related addictions, and so much more.
Sober Support: This section is packed with actionable self-help strategies and tips, offering guidance on getting and staying sober, coming out as sober, building sober friendships and community, and tackling common challenges in sobriety.
Meet the Experts: In this series, we feature Q&As with experts who share their insights on recovery and their personal sobriety stories. Past interviews include a psychotherapist, a shamanic practitioner, an astrologer, a Zen priest, and a sober author and entrepreneur.
Sober Community: Explore posts highlighting our amazing contributors. You’ll also find a wide range of advice, support, and personal shares from sober folks responding to our community prompts. (Expect more of these in the new year!)
Across all of these sections, you’ll find diverse perspectives, including from:
People representing a wide range of backgrounds and generations.
People who are newly sober, sober for decades, and everywhere in between.
People who have embraced sobriety through various tools, means, and programs.
People following AA-based paths, as well as those following non-AA approaches.
No matter where you are on your journey, these voices remind us that there are many, many ways to recover and create a full, vibrant life in sobriety.
Stay tuned for more of everything above in the future! If you’re sober and interested in contributing, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to our newsletter manager and editor here for submission guidelines.
