Yay, all of us! Thank you for bringing this gorgeous collection together, Dana. Two friends of mine - former drinking buddies - have recently told me that they're now sober too, and I can feel the power of that collective and the positive effect that breaking intergenerational bad habits will have on all of our kids. Just between me and my two friends, we're sending the ripple effects of our decision across the UK, Bali and the South Pacific... Add your gathering to that and we've got much of the rest of the world covered! So powerful. So important. 🙏💕
Dana - I tried to respond to this and got so overwhelmed with gratitude. I am giving my kids a chance to see alcohol as anything other than desirable or fun or any of the other lies it has sold to society. If my kids know there is another option, maybe they will be able to make their own decision regarding alcohol when they are old enough, instead of following the crowd or thinking it is a solution.
Great compilation of shared sober parenting ~ decades ago I quit drinking for over 10 years for my kids- and waited till they were all done with college before starting up again ~fast forward- now I’m sober (once again) for my health and grandchildren
How I wish my father would have had the opportunity to live in recovery. He passed away in 2023 ❤️I’m just grateful he had the opportunity to witness my own journey of healing.
This is a REALLY hard topic for me. I drank for the main decade of my kids' growing up years. They do not forgive me, and I have not forgive myself. I am now 6 weeks sober, but it's not enough to recover from the pain I caused. It's certainly not all roses and pink clouds and tears of joy. I really wish I could find someone who relates. Someone who DIDN'T get sober in time.
Sending heart-sourced care, Mariposa. Also: you’re still on time. <3
