Thanks for the great read. I’m a newbie on Day 18. Started the journey after my spouse said “we’re done”, unfortunately. Her only comment on the topic so far has been “I hope you’re doing it for yourself.” I am, but she means there is no “us” to be doing it for. All the shame, guilt and regret are my motivators. Wish I had figured out how to start this journey sooner, when it perhaps could have made a difference.
Sending heart-sourced care you way, Nate. Thank you for being here, and please know that it will make a difference. Perhaps not in the way you most hoped, but my experience has been that quitting alcohol affects every part of us and every single relationship in our lives. Cheering you on.
Glad you are on this journey and are sharing your wisdom. Early sobriety tests everything about us but the results are worth all the pain. Life is still not easy but knowing I can handle what comes my way without the need to drink means I can figure out my way through the tough times. Thanks for sharing.
Such an inspiring share, Peter! Grateful to know you on this journey!

Thanks, Jennifer. The prospect of creating a new me and a new life after 26 years of marriage is rather daunting. One day and one challenge at a time.
