Thank you for your heartfelt words. 5 years sober now, I also used alcohol to self-medicate my way from feelings of depression I could not withstand. I numbed myself is the best way to describe it. A daily vicious cycle that didn’t solve anything. All it did was let me escape for just a little while.

Such an honest and beautiful share, Laura. Parenting amped up my anxiety too - which then amped up my drinking. Until that cure became a curse, I thought I was managing. Thanks for letting other moms know they are not alone in this.

That poem really moved me. Keep writing! I want more :-)

I love what you shared about your children moving you to sobriety - I feel the exact same way about my kids 💕

I appreciate your honesty and insight into anxiety and its connection to drinking — I also appreciate your data collecting of 35 times over 8 months - I did the same kind of thing! 😂

And lastly — thank you for sharing your poem. Alexandra Teague is a post who does some really interesting things with form (her themes are not alcohol related) but the work with form is really great.

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more of your work and poems!
